peace!!!
Well I am happy that you dropped in, and posted something to let us know you've done so!
prob right about that. Somehow I am stuck on "Invisible Hands" performed by Kim Carnes. Also not gibberish.
I haven't gotten there yet, but I hear it calling. I have an old Sangean 808 that works decently for picking up the Beeb and occasionally some other treats from interesting parts of the world. There's also a beautiful Hallicrafters S-53A sitting here that needs some new tubes and a nice log wire antenna.
I suppose I'm back.
You can get a decent SDR radio dongle from ebay for cheap or next to cheap. The antenna array is the big deal. The better your aerial arrays, and the better your skills at tuning ground planes and using a SWR meter the better you will hear. But you might already know that. With your antenna setup and a cheap SDR dongle you might be able to put up a great site. Let me know if you want help with it.
We're moving again when the lease is up in May 2023. Room & trees for a nice long and high dipole is high on my list of wants. Hopefully will have my General by then so I can do something more than just listen to everybody else have fun.
I lived in a garden style apartment complex in the 1990s and antennas were prohibited there also, HOWEVER, every tenant in building B's back side was allowed to soft mount a direct tv, primestar or ussb 18 inch Ku band dish to the railing of their deck. It was that particular building because it was the only one with the proper exposure to the southwest sky.
I managed to covertly hide a longwire antenna that ran up the side of the brick building and all the way across the top of the building and no one noticed or disturbed it for the years I lived there. It worked pretty well, I was wondering about a brick building as a ground plane but I had no other options
